This workshop will give the students an in depth and close look at the life of the common soldier of the First World War. The workshop will break down myths of the great war, allow students to handle and operate equipment from the period and teach them about logistics as the backbone of the Army.
The workshop lasts 60 minutes and the students will take part in the following.
• ARTEFACT HANDLING: Telling stories of the soldiers with original pieces from the period.
• WEAPONS OPERATION: Allowing students to handle the Rifles and Grenades of the war under the supervision of an expert who can dispel the myths set out from movies and video games.
• THE BIG PUSH!: Students will take part in a custom game scenario where they must plan the attack for a big push.
• REFLECTION: At the end of the workshop, a short moments reflection allowing thought upon the actions of front line soldiers in the war.
Your Great War Tommy will guide you through the war to end all wars with age appropriate information, fascinating tales and generating a touch stone for the students to connect with.
